Dermal fillers are made of a carbohydrate that is naturally found in the body called hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers are injected into the deeper layers of the skin to refresh and rejuvenate your appearance.
Dermal fillers smooth unwanted lines and wrinkles, and restore the natural, more youthful contours of your face. Dermal fillers are temporary, and can last anywhere from 8-24 months depending on the product and area of treatment. You will be able to see results immediately after treatment. You may choose dermal fillers for:
• lip enhancement
• restoration of volume in cheeks and temples
• jawline shaping non surgical rhinoplasty
• reduction of prominent nasolabial folds (laugh lines)
• restoration of volume loss under eyes
• age 18 years old or older
• in overall good health
• not pregnant or breastfeeding
• non-smokers are ideal candidates due to the healing process. Smoking can cause the body to take longer to heal post-treatment
• those who want to restore volume loss and refresh their appearance
• those interested in enhancing certain features (lips, cheeks)
• have realistic expectations with the treatment and results
Treatment duration will vary depending on the area(s) treated but will take approximately 45 minutes. Depending on the area you decide to have treated, a topical numbing cream and ice pack may be applied for your comfort. We will choose the most appropriate injection technique and filler product based on the area(s) you wish to have treated. We use the two most common injection techniques, needle or cannula. Both can be used in combination to achieve the best results and this can be discussed during the consultation. Once treatment is completed, you may ice the area as needed to reduce any swelling or bruising. Any bruising or swelling will resolve in 7 days. We encourage you to schedule a follow up appointment two weeks after treatment to ensure we are helping you achieve your treatment goals.
Sculptra® is a semi-permanent injectable implant or dermal filler made of biodegradable poly-L-lactic acid. It helps your body replenish lost collagen to improve the look of your skin. An increase in collagen adds facial volume and diminishes wrinkles. Over time, the treatment redefines the contours of your body, assisting in the reduction of smile and laugh lines.
If you want to appear younger, Sculptra® is a good option. It can help improve the look of your skin without looking like you had work done. Additionally, it is FDA-approved to restore facial fat loss resulting from HIV. Results are gradual and can last up to two years.
For the safest and most effective results, you should be between 18-65 years old. To be a good candidate for this treatment you need to have a healthy immune system and healthy skin. Sores or rashes should not be visible on the parts of your body where treatment is desired. It is important you are not pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are looking to eliminate hollow portions of your skin due to ageing, weight loss or HIV, Sculptra® can be a great option for you.
Sculptra® takes 15-60 minutes. A topical anesthetic is available to help with the discomfort of the injections. Injections are made within the dermis. Side effects are usually minor. Common side effects include redness and swelling to tenderness and pain where the injection is administered. Most symptoms subside within two to seven days. You may also notice bruising, and lumps or become itchy at the treated location site but these reactions will also subside, in a few days. Once your treatment is complete, icing the area for a few minutes several times during the day will help reduce swelling. You should also massage the treated area five times per day for about five minutes each and continue this regimen for five days. It is important to avoid excess sunlight and UV exposure until redness and swelling go away. Follow-up appointments should be scheduled 4-6 weeks after your treatment.
